International Alert and 1325 Network Finland together with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland organised an interactive seminar on the topic of gender and peacebuilding. A full-day seminar was organised in Helsinki, Finland on the 9th of December, 2014.
The seminar included many distinguished speakers who addressed and discussed different gender and women’s issues related to peace and security. The seminar brought together different actors – government representatives, civil servants, researchers and civil society representatives – to talk about current challenges and best practices. The programme of the seminar was built to introduce the latest research from the field by International Alert and supplement it with different views and practical examples from mediation, crisis management operations and from Finland’s twinning partnership countries, Nepal and Afghanistan. Please see the seminar programme, some of the day’s presentations and recommendations from below.
